概要
活字の存在しない未来の管理社会を描いたレイ・ブラッドベリの小説を映画化。主人公モンターグは禁止されている書物の捜索と焼却にあたる有能な消防士だったが、クラリスという女性と知り合った事から本について興味を持ち始める。やがて読書の虜となった彼の前には妻の裏切りと同僚の追跡が待っていた……。
