Overview
Vietnamul francez, 1929. O tânără dintr-o familie cu probleme financiare se întoarce acasă. Pe drum, cunoaște un chinez bogat. Între cei doi se înfiripă o poveste de dragoste care depășește barierele de rasă și cultură... Povestea sensibilă, delicată, ca o stampă orientală, este amplificată emotional de muzica elegantă a compozitorului Gabriel Yared. Tema muzicală a filmului revine mereu, ca fantasma unei amintiri erotice. Yared extrage o inegalabilă poezie dulce-amară din amestecul instrumentelor cu coarde.
