Overview
Bland bergen i norra Japan föds valpen Silver. Redan som valp tränas han till att jaga björn. Silvers pappa, Riki, är en av de främsta björnhundarna. En dag ser Silver och pojken Daisuke hur Riki förlorar striden mot den gigantiska björnen Akakabuto och kastas ned i en djup ravin. Efter detta är björnen Silvers svurne fiende och tillsammans med Daisuke börjar de sin långa och farliga jakt.
