Will Ferrell and Sofía Vergara have joined the cast of ‘Despicable Me 4’.

The new stars of the film were unveiled in a trailer for the sequel, which will be released seven years after the third film.

Ferrell will take on the role of Gru’s new archenemy, Maxime Le Mal, and Vergara will play his femme fatale girlfriend, Valentina. Additionally, there are new characters voiced by ‘Bullet Train’ actress Joey King, TV host Stephen Colbert, and ‘Saturday Night Live’ regular Chloe Fineman. In the upcoming film, Gru [Steve Carrell] and Lucy [Kristen Wiig] welcome a new family member, a son named Gru Jr. It is the fourth installment of the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise, which has also expanded to include two ‘Minions’ films, ‘Minions’ from 2015, and ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ from 2022.

‘Despicable Me 4’ will be released on July 3rd in theaters. Steve Carell has lent his voice to the lovable supervillain Gru throughout the series, admitting previously that he loves working on the films because the projects “are not condescending to children.” At CinemaCon, Steve explained, “These are really good movies. They are also not condescending to the kids, and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to be a part of these films.”
