“Thanksgiving 2” has been given the green light, and Eli Roth looks set to return to the director’s chair

The horror film has so far grossed $30 million globally and surprisingly is Roth’s best-received film as a director ever. Initially, the slasher was a fake trailer in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s ambitious Grindhouse project released in 2007. Roth shared the origin of the film’s idea in an interview with Thrt:

“I grew up in Massachusetts where Thanksgiving was born. When I was twelve years old, my best friend Jeff and I used to watch every horror movie. It was the era when films like ‘Halloween,’ ‘Black Christmas,’ ‘My Bloody Valentine’ were released. ‘April Fools Day,’ ‘Mother’s Day,’ ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’… And every November, we wondered – why no movie about Thanksgiving?”

“Thanksgiving” will have its theatrical premiere on December 1. Roth co-wrote the script with his childhood friend Jeff Rendell and announced the sequel on his Instagram:
